Monday Moments with President Bergman: April 16, 2018

Gustavus President Rebecca M. Bergman shares her thoughts with College employees each week.

President Rebecca M. Bergman

Everyone has a stake in workplace engagement. Engaged employees find meaning and fulfillment in their work, are committed to their own success as well as the success of their team, and build positive relationships with their colleagues. Engaged employees drive innovation and actively work to move the organization forward.

Last Friday, Julie Kline sent out a message to employees about the completion of the Gallup Employee Engagement Survey. Thank you to all employees who completed the survey. Your responses are important and will be used to begin a process of analysis, investigation, and action in the weeks and months ahead

Our goal is to create a workplace environment where everyone can flourish, where each individual can give their best every day, where we have a shared commitment to our vision, goals, and values, where people are motivated to contribute to our institution’s success, and where each individual has an enhanced sense of wellbeing. Measuring engagement and inclusiveness is just the beginning. As with all surveys, the real value comes from taking action that makes a positive difference. Through the process of analyzing our own results and benchmarking against the hundreds of other organizations who have taken the Gallup Employee Engagement Survey, we will work together to figure out what changes we can make to improve our overall engagement.

I am a big believer in the power of continuous improvement. Whether at the individual, team, department, or institutional level, I believe that an attitude of continuous improvement can be transformational. I look forward to the opportunity to create a stronger and more engaged working environment for all Gustavus employees. When asked, please step forward to help analyze our engagement survey results and determine priority areas for action.

Until next week, keep up the good work, Gusties!

With respect,

Becky
