Thanksgiving is just around the corner. This is a time to gather with our loved ones, to eat lots of food, and hopefully, to take a break from the busy pace of the fall for a few days. Most importantly, this is a time to reflect and give thanks for the people and the gifts in our lives. This year, Dr. Tom and I are hosting 15 people for Thanksgiving! There is a lot to do to get ready, but I am excited that our home will be filled with laughter and the warmth of our children (and grandchild!) as we share this special time of togetherness and thanks.
As members of the Gustavus community, we have much to be thankful for. As I reflected on last week’s Gustavus Acts Strategic Plan meetings, I want to share my deep gratitude for each of you and the role you have played in advancing the mission of this college. Together, we are renovating and expanding the Nobel Hall of Science, diversifying and expanding our community through new scholarship funding, and crafting a new integrated general education curriculum, among many other important initiatives.
So today, I am especially grateful for you…each of you, and all of you. You believe in our mission, and you strive for excellence in accomplishing your individual tasks. Together, we work diligently to serve our students and help them succeed. Every day, I see a community that is committed to moving forward together. For all this, I am deeply grateful.
Now, when our work is done for the week, let us put it away for a few short days. When you join together with friends and family, I hope you celebrate gratitude and share it with those who you hold close.
Please enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday, and know that you have my authentic gratitude not just this week, but all year long.
With respect,
Becky
